About the Village Market and TWS
The Village Market is a social enterprise connecting organic and biodynamic farmers with consumers in York Region, and helping fund Waldorf education at the Toronto Waldorf School (TWS).
Founded more than 25 years ago, in 1991, as the first organic farmers market in York Region, the Market was started by TWS teachers Helene Gross, and Desmond Gross.
About the Toronto Waldorf School
Toronto Waldorf School was founded in the late 1960s by a small group of people who didn’t have children, and who wanted to do something to promote world peace, in response to the cold war. TWS is a registered charity and was the first Waldorf School in Canada. Currently TWS educates children from pre-school through grade twelve. Waldorf is a world-wide educational movement founded by Rudolf Steiner in 1919.
